Hospital catering staff scoop £25MILLION on lottery syndicate – but almost didn’t get the winning ticket

Julie said: “I’ve enjoyed working there for many years along with the rest of the syndicate, but now it is someone else’s turn to take on those roles. “We will miss many of our colleagues as we have all worked there a long time, but this is the start of something new for us all.” Each of the syndicate won just under £4.25million. Julie is the syndicate leader and is married to Alwyn. She has been a catering assistant for 12 years, lives in Port Talbot, has two children and two grandchildren. The first thing she will be spending the money on is a trip to Las Vegas as she has always loved Elvis. Doreen Thompson, 56, is married to NIgel, and has also worked as a catering assistant for 12 years. She lives in Ystalyfera, has three children and two step children, lots of grandchildren and wants to go on holiday to Florida. Louise Ward, whose numbers won the huge jackpot, is engaged to Mark. She has also worked as a catering assistant for 12 years, lives in Port Talbot, has two children and is looking forward to her dream wedding in March. She said: “I had 80 people on my list and was trying to cut down on the numbers as it was too many. “I can now have as many guests as I want!” As well as the wedding, she is going to buy a new tumble dryer after her old one broke down three months ago and some new mattresses for the children.
